SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy L. Goleman of Naples, Florida, formerly of Divernon, who passed away on September 3, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Goleman, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Hinkle Reichert, was born in rural Virden on April 23, 1927; she graduated from Virden High School in 1945; she earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1949; she married A. Leo Goleman on July 23, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Goleman served as a music teacher for Springfield Public Schools District 186, and she also taught private piano and organ lessons for 58 years; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Goleman was a member of Divernon United Methodist Church for 71 years, where she served as music director for many years; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Goleman was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Leo; her children, Melinda, Ann, and John; and her brother, Tom Reichert; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Goleman is survived by her son, Andy (Gwen Montgomery) Goleman; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Goleman; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Fred (Eileen) Reichert; her sister-in-law, Luann Reichert; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy L. Goleman and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Goleman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
