| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Randall | ||||||
| 4 | Lee "Randy" Cooke of Chatham, who passed away on July 29, 2025; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was born to Rodney and Carol (Smith) | ||||||
| 7 | Cooke in Bloomington on April 16, 1962; he graduated from | ||||||
| 8 | Glenwood High School in 1980; he married Marleen Rae Sullivan | ||||||
| 9 | in Springfield on June 8, 1985; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke worked as an operator at the Kincaid | ||||||
| 11 | Generating Station for more than 20 years, and he served as a | ||||||
| 12 | volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Chatham Fire Department | ||||||
| 13 | for many years; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was a member and past president of | ||||||
| 15 | the TRN Lake Club and a member of Elks Lodge 158; he also | ||||||
| 16 | served as president of the Sangchris Waterfowlers Association, | ||||||
| 17 | where his leadership brought to life the Brett Creager | ||||||
| 18 | Memorial Youth Outdoor Day event; he passionately advocated | ||||||
| 19 | for organizations close to his heart, including Mid-America | ||||||
| 20 | Transplant and the American Lung Association; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was an avid outdoorsman who loved | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | hunting, fishing, and experiencing the beauty of nature; he | ||||||
| 2 | enjoyed spending time at Sangchris Lake, hunting with his | ||||||
| 3 | friends and making his cherished duck blind breakfasts; his | ||||||
| 4 | greatest joy was found in sharing laughter and love with his | ||||||
| 5 | grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa"; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was a vibrant spirit known for his | ||||||
| 7 | infectious humor, strong faith, quick wit, and his ability to | ||||||
| 8 | make friends wherever he went; he leaves behind a legacy of | ||||||
| 9 | warmth, strength, and an unshakable belief in the good in the | ||||||
| 10 | world; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was preceded in death by his mother; | ||||||
| 12 | and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Randy Cooke is survived by his wife of 40 years, | ||||||
| 14 | Marleen; his children, Brandi (Eric) Goodin and Ryan (Abby | ||||||
| 15 | Geist) Cooke; six grandchildren; his father; his sister, Kim | ||||||
| 16 | (Dave) Sapetti; and numerous friends; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we mourn the passing of Randall Lee "Randy" Cooke and extend | ||||||
| 20 | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | ||||||
| 21 | knew and loved him; and be it further | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to the family of Randy Cooke as an expression of our | ||||||
| 3 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
