HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 on the occasion of its centennial anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The American Legion was charted by the United States Congress as a patriotic veterans organization in 1919, and it has flourished into a group of over one million members, including 12,000 posts worldwide; and

WHEREAS, On September, 11, 1925, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 was formed in Peotone to support the aims and goals of the organization; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 continues to bolster service members, its community, and the country through unwavering volunteerism, with members donating 3,259 hours in 2024 alone; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 holds a Poppy Drive every Saturday prior to Memorial Day, honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, in addition to collecting donations for veterans, active-duty members, and their families; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 members also oversee the successful operation of holiday charitable events, including an annual Christmas party and Easter box distributions; and

WHEREAS, The men and women of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 play an integral role in helping not only those who served but also those across the community, State, and country; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 on achieving its 100th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 392 as an expression of our esteem and respect.
