SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Matthew "Matt" Turley of Sherman, who passed away on September 27, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Matt Turley, the son of Jerry Stix Turley, was born on December 15, 1971; he married Emily Harvey on October 7, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Matt Turley retired from the Supreme Court of Illinois after many years of service; he recently began serving as a bus driver for Williamsville-Sherman Community Unit School District #15; and

WHEREAS, Matt Turley enjoyed riding motorcycles and racing at Lincoln Speedway; and

WHEREAS, Matt Turley was preceded in death by his father; his brothers, Mark Dingman and R.J. Turley; and his sister, Stacy Manion; and

WHEREAS, Matt Turley is survived by his wife, Emily; his children, Isabelle, Brooklyn, Kimberly, and Kayla Turley; his siblings, Laura (Jeremiah) Smith, Stephanie Cordery, Fred (Corrie) Campbell, Robert (Mamie) Campbell, Jeremy Turley, and Christy Turley; his brother-in-law, Mark Harvey Jr.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many Springfield BMX family members; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Matthew "Matt" Turley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Matt Turley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
