SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael Edward Roy of Peoria, who passed away on September 9, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy was born to Lester and Sylvan Roy in Portsmouth, Virginia on February 26, 1954; he married Cheryl Goldsby; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy worked at Orkin Pest Control for 38 years, retiring in 2020; he loved talking to people on the job and truly enjoyed running his route, leading him to meet many people over the years; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and doing odd jobs at home or for others, and one of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow and succeed; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, sense of humor, and strong work ethic touched everyone who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Luke Roy; and

WHEREAS, Michael Roy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl; his children, Michelle (Eric) Sill, Brittany (Joshua) Clarke, Brett (Ashley) Roy, and Christopher Roy; five grandchildren; his sisters, Cindy Rechner, Debbie McGrath, Leslie Spreitzer, Mary Cromer, Pamela Roy, Katie Hakey, Elizabeth Lembke, and Sally Dant; and many other family members; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael Edward Roy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Roy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
