SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elk Grove Village Clerk Loretta "Lorrie" Murphy, who passed away on June 6, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy was born in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy worked for the Village of Elk Grove for 20 years; she initially served as a senior clerk, beginning in 2005, and then as an administrator in the village manager's office and as executive assistant for Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson; she was appointed village clerk in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy served as village clerk until her passing; during her tenure, she was responsible for calling the roll at meetings, keeping official records, and helping coordinate local elections; and

WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy will be remembered as a dear friend who energetically served her community; and

WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Michael, and her children, Kelli (Jason) Walewander and Kyle Murphy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Loretta "Lorrie" Murphy and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lorrie Murphy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
