| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of John L. Goleman of Divernon, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on September 1, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Goleman, the son of Leo and Dorothy Reichert | ||||||
| 6 | Goleman, was born in Springfield on August 1, 1953; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Divernon High School in 1971; he received a | ||||||
| 8 | bachelor's degree in agriculture from Western Illinois | ||||||
| 9 | University, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho | ||||||
| 10 | fraternity; he married Kathy Grider on February 17, 1978; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, John Goleman, along with his wife, worked on the | ||||||
| 12 | family farm located just outside of Divernon, where they | ||||||
| 13 | raised their two children; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, John Goleman was a lifetime member of the | ||||||
| 15 | Divernon United Methodist Church, where he served as board | ||||||
| 16 | chairman for numerous years; he also served as a trustee for | ||||||
| 17 | the Township of Divernon for 36 years; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, John Goleman was an avid sports fan, especially | ||||||
| 19 | the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, John Goleman was a devoted family man with a | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | generous spirit; he will be remembered for his sense of humor | ||||||
| 2 | and wit that could put anyone at ease; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, John Goleman was preceded in death by his father | ||||||
| 4 | and his sisters, Melinda and Ann; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Goleman, at the time of his passing, was | ||||||
| 6 | survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; his children, Cory | ||||||
| 7 | Goleman and Ryan (Sarah) Goleman; two grandchildren; his | ||||||
| 8 | mother; his brother, Andy Goleman; and several nieces and | ||||||
| 9 | nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 12 | John L. Goleman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 13 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 14 | further | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the family of John Goleman as an expression of our | ||||||
| 17 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
