SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John L. Goleman of Divernon, who passed away on September 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman, the son of Leo and Dorothy Reichert Goleman, was born in Springfield on August 1, 1953; he graduated from Divernon High School in 1971; he received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Western Illinois University, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity; he married Kathy Grider on February 17, 1978; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman, along with his wife, worked on the family farm located just outside of Divernon, where they raised their two children; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman was a lifetime member of the Divernon United Methodist Church, where he served as board chairman for numerous years; he also served as a trustee for the Township of Divernon for 36 years; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman was an avid sports fan, especially the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman was a devoted family man with a generous spirit; he will be remembered for his sense of humor and wit that could put anyone at ease; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman was preceded in death by his father and his sisters, Melinda and Ann; and

WHEREAS, John Goleman, at the time of his passing, was survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; his children, Cory Goleman and Ryan (Sarah) Goleman; two grandchildren; his mother; his brother, Andy Goleman; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John L. Goleman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Goleman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
