| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Daniel Lee "Dan" Parr, M.D. of rural | ||||||
| 4 | Pekin, who passed away on January 7, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr was born in Mason City to Virtus and | ||||||
| 6 | Gertrude (Spencer) Parr on February 26, 1935; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
| 8 | Chemistry and Biology in 1957; he then graduated from the | ||||||
| 9 | University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in 1962; | ||||||
| 10 | he completed his residency at Decatur and Macon County | ||||||
| 11 | Hospital in Decatur; he also completed a residency in family | ||||||
| 12 | practice at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria with the | ||||||
| 13 | University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria; he was | ||||||
| 14 | married to Loretta Jean Combs for 23 years and later to | ||||||
| 15 | Kathleen McKenna for 13 years; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr was drafted into the U.S. Navy and | ||||||
| 17 | served in the U.S. Air Force as captain and a flight surgeon | ||||||
| 18 | for the Air Defense Squadron at Loring Air Force Base in | ||||||
| 19 | Caribou, Maine from 1963 to 1965; he also had attended the | ||||||
| 20 | School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, Texas; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr established his private practice in | ||||||
| 22 | Tremont in 1965 following his military service; his practice | ||||||

| 1 | later moved to Pekin, and he had privileges at Pekin Hospital, | ||||||
| 2 | OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and Methodist Medical Center; | ||||||
| 3 | in retirement, he worked in the emergency department at Pekin | ||||||
| 4 | Hospital and at Caterpillar, Inc. doing wellness physicals; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr enjoyed spending time with his family; | ||||||
| 7 | he was a man of exceptional moral character and truly cared | ||||||
| 8 | about people; he loved science and animals and always had a | ||||||
| 9 | great interest in airplanes and flying; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr was preceded in death by his parents and | ||||||
| 11 | his sisters, Winifred Fredricks, Allice Booth, and Lucille | ||||||
| 12 | Dupage; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parr is survived by his son, Daniel L. | ||||||
| 14 | (Holly) Parr; his daughters, Cathleen (Steve) Orr, Stephanie | ||||||
| 15 | (Gary) Barth, Patricia Parr, and Judith (William) Johnson; his | ||||||
| 16 | grandchildren, Daniel (Lauren) Parr IV, Logan Parr, Lauren | ||||||
| 17 | (Jesi) James, Oliver (Daniel) Barth-Carson, Andrew Johnson, | ||||||
| 18 | and Ashley Johnson (Matthew Avery); and his | ||||||
| 19 | great-grandchildren, Daniel L. "Levi" Parr V and Wrenley | ||||||
| 20 | Avery; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||

| 1 | Daniel Lee "Dan" Parr, M.D. and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 2 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 3 | it further | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 5 | presented to the family of Dr. Parr as an expression of our | ||||||
| 6 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
