| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ethel Lucille Jesse of Girard and | ||||||
| 4 | Decatur, who passed away on January 24, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was born to William Garrison and | ||||||
| 6 | Nellie (Karrick) Garrison in rural Carlinville on April 9, | ||||||
| 7 | 1937; she married Edward M. Jesse on April 20, 1957, and he | ||||||
| 8 | preceded her in death on April 2, 2001; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse worked as a CNA at Pleasant Hill | ||||||
| 10 | Village in Girard, where she provided loving care for the | ||||||
| 11 | residents for more than 28 years; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was an excellent cook and enjoyed | ||||||
| 13 | baking and candy making, and some of her family's favorite | ||||||
| 14 | recipes included her vegetable soup, sloppy taters, Texas | ||||||
| 15 | sheet cake, and divinity and buckeyes candy; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse loved her family fiercely and enjoyed | ||||||
| 17 | attending family gatherings; she will be remembered for her | ||||||
| 18 | tenacity and determination to live life on her terms; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
| 20 | and 12 siblings; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse is survived by her children, Debra | ||||||
| 2 | (Don) Giger, Edward (Kim) Jesse, and Donna Maybury; her | ||||||
| 3 | grandchildren, Todd (Rebekah) Giger, Samantha (Greg) Pelcak, | ||||||
| 4 | Trevor (Erica) Giger, Trent (Kimi) Giger, Sarah Jesse, and | ||||||
| 5 | Brayden (Dakotah) Maybury; six great-grandchildren; four bonus | ||||||
| 6 | great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, with | ||||||
| 7 | one more expected; and her friends and acquaintances; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Ethel Lucille Jesse and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 13 | further | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Ethel Jesse as an expression of our | ||||||
| 16 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
