SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate the Village of Riverside on the occasion of the Village's 150th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1875, the Village of Riverside is celebrating its sesquicentennial, marking 150 years of history, community, and progress; and

WHEREAS, Riverside is renowned for its visionary design as one of the first planned suburban communities in the United States, featuring the groundbreaking work of Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux; and

WHEREAS, The residents of Riverside have upheld this legacy by fostering a community rooted in tradition, innovation, and stewardship of its historic character; and

WHEREAS, The Sesquicentennial Planning Committee, composed of dedicated trustees and residents, has organized a year-long celebration to honor the Village's rich history and vibrant future; and

WHEREAS, The Village of Riverside seeks to commemorate this historic milestone by sealing a time capsule at the conclusion of the sesquicentennial celebrations, preserving reflections, aspirations, and congratulations for future generations; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Village of Riverside on its 150th anniversary, and we extend heartfelt congratulations to its residents, past and present, for their enduring commitment to preserving the community's historic and cultural heritage; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be delivered to the Village of Riverside as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
