HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Judy Kay Thompson of Godfrey, who passed away on March 24, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Judy Thompson was born to Paul Godfrey and Eva (Mandorca) Fortschneider in Alton on June 7, 1949; she married Larry Lynn Thompson at St. Mary's Catholic Church on November 21, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Judy Thompson had a deep love for education and began working at Godfrey's St. Ambrose School in 1978, where she spent many years as a Kindergarten teacher and then taught computer classes at all grade levels until her retirement in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Judy Thompson enjoyed music and classic cars; she was involved with her church, the Rotary Club, and the Alton Water Ski Club, where she served as show director and performed; above all, she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends, and she often shared stories of her children and grandchildren's achievements; and

WHEREAS, Judy Thompson is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Scott) Weiner; her son, John Warren (Stephanie) Thompson; and her five grandchildren, Garrett (fiancée Kaitlyn Coles) Weiner, Lauren Weiner, Allie Weiner, Lillian Thompson, and Caroline Thompson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Judy Kay Thompson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, students, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judy Thompson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
