SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry L. Wenger of Smithton, who passed away on December 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger, the son of Francis Louis and Clela Pauline (Godwin) Wenger, was born in Jonesboro on January 24, 1941; he served in the U.S. Navy; he married Cindy (Ring) Steelman at Beech Grove on December 26, 1998; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger worked as an inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger cherished spending time with his wife and his horses, including camping, traveling, or trail riding; his love for the outdoors and equestrian pursuits were an integral part of his life; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger was known as a kind, gentle man who always had a smile on his face; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Phyllis Wenger; and his brother-in-law, Jim Brown; and

WHEREAS, Larry Wenger is survived by his wife, Cindy Wenger; his sons, Larry Dean (Cheri) Wenger, Gregory (Heather) Wenger, and Jeffery (Jessica) Wenger; his stepchildren, Albert, Mike, Jerry, Perry, Dana, Daman, and Rachel; four grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Irma Kelly-Brown, Joyce Boyer, and Debbie (Steve) Halderman; and his brother, Terry (Debbie) Wenger; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry L. Wenger and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Wenger as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
