SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Howard E. Buoy Sr. of Decatur, who passed away on December 21, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy, the son of Robert and Edith Buoy, was born in Pesotum in August 1926; he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy worked at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) for close to 60 years, starting at the entry level position of sweeping floors and working his way up to the position of senior vice president of operations; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy was involved in many community activities, including the Lions Club, the Masons, the Shriners, the Pony League, the Conservation District, the Jefferson Jackson Club, the Young Democrats, and other Democratic Party organizations; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy was passionate about his family, farming, improving his community, and supporting the Democratic Party; he was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini fan; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Regina; his companion, Sharon; six siblings; his granddaughter, Vicki; and his son-in-law, Mike Jestis; and

WHEREAS, Howard Buoy is survived by his children, Diane (Chuck) Watkins, Karen Jestis, and Howard (Anita) Buoy Jr.; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Howard E. Buoy Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Buoy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
