HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Carl Wesley Moore, who passed away on January 27, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore was born in Chicago on February 10, 1960; he attended Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School; he served in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge; he earned an Associate in Science in Biblical Studies from Chicagoland Christian Center Bible Institute, where he also worked toward his Bachelor of Science in Theology, and his dedication to his studies also earned him multiple academic awards for excellence and outstanding leadership; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore was a talented computer expert with knowledge of various Microsoft programs, DCL programming, VMS fundamentals, and system hardware; he worked as an operations analyst and computer hardware engineer at the Chicago Stock Exchange, as a help desk analyst and computer operator at Draper and Kramer, and as a consultant who provided technical support for hardware and software issues at Dell Corporation; in his spare time, he assisted others needing computer repairs; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore was deeply committed to his faith from a young age; during his formative years, he attended Third Baptist Church, where he was baptized, participated in the Vesper Choir, and completed several levels of discipleship classes; he later attended First Corinthian Church and the Chicagoland Christian Center, where he served as a deacon for over five years; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore enjoyed studying and debating scripture, engaging in Bible trivia, discussing current events, and watching old movies, Judge Mathis, and The Andy Griffith Show; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore cherished his family, and he was immensely proud of his daughters; he served as a constant reminder that family is what is most important in life; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Moore-Jones, and his stepfather, Wilbur Jones; and

WHEREAS, Carl Moore is survived by his daughter, Corionna (Matthew) Moore-Clayton; his bonus daughter, Sierra (Jerome) Williams; his stepdaughter, Shawna Howard; his partner, LaWanda Wade; his uncle, Dennis Moore; his aunt, Loretta; his sisters, Diane (Warren) Cottrell and Minyon Moore; four grandchildren; his nephew, Christopher (Jamille); his great-nephew, Xavier; his cousins, LaShonn, Trizel, Dennis Jr., Shahari, Devin, and Devin Jr.; and many other cousins, friends, and extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carl Wesley Moore and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carl Moore as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
