| 1 | AN ACT concerning State government. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | |||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is amended | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | by adding Section 5.28 as follows: | |||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | (20 ILCS 505/5.28 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 5.28. Assigned mental health providers for youth in | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | care. All youth in care shall be assigned a mental health | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | provider to manage their mental health care needs. No later | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | than 30 days after a youth in care is removed from his or her | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | home and placed in the temporary custody or guardianship of | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | the Department, the mental health provider assigned to the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | youth shall visit the youth and conduct a well-being | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | assessment. Additional follow-up visits and well-being checks | |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | shall be scheduled and conducted until the youth is no longer | |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | under the custody or guardianship of the Department. Any | |||||||||||||||||||
| 17 | mental health care and related services provided to the youth | |||||||||||||||||||
| 18 | shall be in addition to any other care or services the youth | |||||||||||||||||||
| 19 | receives from his or her primary care provider. The Department | |||||||||||||||||||
| 20 | may adopt any rules necessary to implement the provisions of | |||||||||||||||||||
| 21 | this Section, including rules to promote a holistic and | |||||||||||||||||||
| 22 | proactive approach to the provision of mental health care for | |||||||||||||||||||
| 23 | youth in care. | |||||||||||||||||||
