SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
65 ILCS 5/11-6.1.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that a municipality must set aside, in a dedicated account, 10% of the funds the municipality receives from an insurer on account of ambulance or fire services provided by the municipality. Provides that the municipality may only use the funds in the dedicated account for purchasing and maintaining ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles used to provide emergency services.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5adding Section 11-6.1.5 as follows:
 
6    (65 ILCS 5/11-6.1.5 new)
7    Sec. 11-6.1.5. Minimum funding requirements for
8ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles used to provide
9emergency services. A municipality must set aside, in a
10dedicated account, 10% of the funds the municipality receives
11from an insurer on account of ambulance or fire services
12provided by the municipality. The municipality may only use
13the funds in the dedicated account for purchasing and
14maintaining ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles used
15to provide emergency services.
