| 2 | | WHEREAS, This year marks the 250th Anniversary of the |
| 3 | | founding of the United States Marine Corps; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The phrase "Semper Fidelis" is Latin for "always |
| 5 | | faithful" and is the motto of the United States Marine Corps; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, This promise means that Marines are always |
| 8 | | faithful to those on their left and right, from the fellow |
| 9 | | Marines they fight alongside to those in their communities for |
| 10 | | whom they fight; therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 12 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 13 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of |
| 14 | | Interstate Route 80 of the National System of Interstate and |
| 15 | | Defense Highways within the State of Illinois, from mile |
| 16 | | marker 26 to mile marker 51, as the "U.S. Marine Corps Highway |
| 17 | | Semper Fidelis"; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
| 19 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with |
| 20 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs |
| 21 | | giving notice of the name "U.S. Marine Corps Highway Semper |
