| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2575 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2575 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section | ||||||
| 5 | 2-3.7a as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.7a) (from Ch. 122, par. 2-3.7a) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 2-3.7a. Advisory committees and their composition. To | ||||||
| 8 | create, form, or appoint task forces, study committees, blue | ||||||
| 9 | ribbon panels, commissions, or any other type of organization, | ||||||
| 10 | by whatever name designated, to study or examine educational | ||||||
| 11 | policy issues, problems, or concerns. Any task force, study | ||||||
| 12 | committee, blue ribbon panel, commission, or organization | ||||||
| 13 | created or appointed by the State Board of Education or the | ||||||
| 14 | State Superintendent of Education after this amendatory Act | ||||||
| 15 | takes effect shall include parents or guardians of students | ||||||
| 16 | involved in or directly affected by the issues, problems, or | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | concerns under study. The parents or guardians appointed to | ||||||
| 2 | comply with this Section shall not be employed by or | ||||||
| 3 | administratively connected with any school system or | ||||||
| 4 | institution of higher learning in Illinois, employed by any | ||||||
| 5 | educational collective bargaining organization within | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois, employed by any association of school boards or | ||||||
| 7 | school administrative officers, employed by the State Board of | ||||||
| 8 | Education, or members of any school board or board of school | ||||||
| 9 | trustees of any public or private school, college, university, | ||||||
| 10 | or technical institution within Illinois. | ||||||
| 11 | The State Board of Education's advisory group meetings, | ||||||
| 12 | including, but not limited to, councils, committees, | ||||||
| 13 | commissions, and task forces, shall be made accessible to all | ||||||
| 14 | group members and include remote attendance options. Remote | ||||||
| 15 | attendance options shall allow for the full participation of | ||||||
| 16 | group members. Prior to scheduling an advisory group meeting, | ||||||
| 17 | the State Board shall solicit input from group members | ||||||
| 18 | regarding the members' schedules and schedule meetings at | ||||||
| 19 | times that allow for the attendance of a majority of group | ||||||
| 20 | members. Advisory groups that include members who work in | ||||||
| 21 | schools shall schedule meetings that do not conflict with | ||||||
| 22 | school hours. | ||||||
