| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Gilbert "Judge" Gonzalez of Calumet |
| 4 | | City, formerly of South Chicago, who passed away on July 9, |
| 5 | | 2025; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez, the son of Encarnacion and |
| 7 | | Elisa Gonzalez, was born on September 1, 1935; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez worked for and retired from |
| 9 | | Wisconsin Steel Works and the Chicago Transit Authority; he |
| 10 | | was also active in politics and always willing to serve his |
| 11 | | community; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez was an avid train collector and |
| 13 | | a capable do-it-yourselfer; he enjoyed watching sports and |
| 14 | | cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears with his |
| 15 | | family; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez was a kind, friendly, gentle, |
| 17 | | and happy person, and he will be remembered as a loving and |
| 18 | | devoted husband and father and a huge supporter of his |
| 19 | | grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his granddaughter, Jennifer Rodriguez; and his |
| 2 | | siblings, Ruben (Maria) Gonzalez, Carmen (the late Enrique) |
| 3 | | Villa, Charlie (the late Margarita) Gonzalez, Paula Corona, |
| 4 | | and Connie Torres; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Gonzalez is survived by his wife of 70 |
| 6 | | years, Angeline (Raya) Gonzalez; his children, Lillian |
| 7 | | Rodriguez, Shirley (Javier) Salazar, Gilbert (Kimberly) |
| 8 | | Gonzalez Jr., and Christopher (Jodie L. Zimmerman) Gonzalez; |
| 9 | | nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his honorary |
| 10 | | child, Rose Martinez; his siblings, Rose (Luis) Esquivel and |
| 11 | | Esther (the late Alphonso) Martinez; and many nieces, nephews, |
| 12 | | in-laws, and friends; therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 15 | | Gilbert "Judge" Gonzalez and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 16 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 17 | | further

| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of Gilbert Gonzalez as an expression |
| 20 | | of our deepest sympathy. |
