|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress |
| 3 | | authorized the formation of two battalions of Marines in |
| 4 | | Philadelphia, beginning what would become the United States |
| 5 | | Marine Corps;; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The U.S. Marine Corps has protected Americans and |
| 7 | | guarded their freedom for 250 years, serving with distinction |
| 8 | | in all wars in which the United States has been involved; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, As the United States established a position of |
| 10 | | world leadership, the Marines have proven themselves as |
| 11 | | dedicated professionals willing to defend the lives and rights |
| 12 | | of Americans and of our allies of freedom around the world; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Since the formation of the Marines, the term |
| 14 | | "Marine" has been associated with courage and military |
| 15 | | proficiency; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The residents of Illinois are proud of the |
| 17 | | State's rich contribution to the Marine tradition and respect |
| 18 | | the Marines serving around the globe; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 20 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |

| 1 | | we declare November 10, 2025 as Marine Corps Day and the month |
| 2 | | of November 2025 as Marine Corps Month to recognize and honor |
| 3 | | the contributions of Marines and to commemorate the sacrifices |
| 4 | | and valor displayed by Marines; and be it further
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That we urge Marine Corps Day and Marine Corps |
| 6 | | Month be observed with appropriate programs, services, and |
| 7 | | activities. |
