| 2 | | WHEREAS, E'Leric Donae Lyon was born to Latasha Cunningham |
| 3 | | Taylor on April 19, 2001; the second born of four children, she |
| 4 | | was cared for by her mother and her stepfather, Devonte |
| 5 | | Taylor; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon was raised in Beach Park and |
| 7 | | graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School, where she |
| 8 | | participated in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps |
| 9 | | (NJROTC); she also played the clarinet for more than 12 years; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon led a career in security; in her |
| 12 | | free time, she enjoyed making social media videos that often |
| 13 | | went viral, and she loved doing her makeup, nails, and hair; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon had a special connection with her |
| 16 | | mother, calling her at the time of 11:11 to make a wish; she |
| 17 | | was full of love and devotion, kind to everyone throughout her |
| 18 | | life, a friend to all, and always in high spirits; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon was a vibrant, young woman with a |
| 20 | | promising future ahead of her when she was murdered by her |
| 21 | | partner on June 12, 2025; through her memory, her family hopes |

| 1 | | to help prevent other domestic violence homicides and provide |
| 2 | | justice for victims' families; therefore, be it
|
| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 4 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 5 | | we declare November 11, 2025 as E'Leric Lyon Day in the State |
| 6 | | of Illinois to celebrate the joy and love that E'Leric Donae |
| 7 | | Lyon shared with those around her; and be it further
|
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 9 | | presented to the family of E'Leric Lyon as an expression of our |
| 10 | | esteem and respect. |
