HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Juju
4Lien, who passed away on November 3, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Juju Lien was born in China and raised in Taiwan;
6she graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Juju Lien retired in 2020 after 21 years of
8service with the Social Security Administration; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Juju Lien was a community activist dedicated to
10providing social services and advocating for equal justice for
11Chicago's Asian American refugees and immigrants; she served
12as the executive director of the Chinese Mutual Aid
13Association and later held the same role at the Asian American
14Institute (now Asian Americans Advancing Justice); she was
15also a advocate for gender equality and was involved with the
16Chicago Foundation for Women since its inception in 1985; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Juju Lien kept her friends very close and loved
18to host and cook for them, and she was a source of humor and
19inspiration to almost every person she met; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Juju Lien was preceded in death by her husband of

1over 40 years, Robert Cross; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Juju Lien is survived by her daughter, Amy Cross
3(Matthew); her grandson, Leon; her brothers, Martin Lien (Lee)
4and Kai Lee (Jane); her nieces, Jing Ting Hammond (Steve),
5Jing Dee Lien (John), Jing Yee Curtiss (Kirk), and Katie Lee;
6and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Zoe, Calvin, Norah, and
7Harper; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Juju Lien and extend our sincere
11condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Juju Lien as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
