Section 410.310  Medical and Health Services

 

a)         It shall be the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian of residents under age 18 to provide for medical and dental examinations of the youth and the subsequent treatment of diagnosed medical and dental problems.  Medical care may be provided through a family physician or through community-based facilities which have entered into written agreements to provide medical care for youth staying at the emergency shelter.

 

b)         Prescription drugs will be self-administered or a parent may administer prescription medications to his or her child. Homeless youth staff shall assist youth with self-administration of prescription drugs.  Assisting with self-administered medications is limited to reminding the resident to take his/her medications, reading instructions for utilizaton, uncapping medication containers, and providing the proper liquid and utensils with which to take medications. Prescription medications shall be kept in a locked, safe place within the emergency shelter.

 

c)         Clean linens, a towel, washcloth, toothbrush and comb shall be provided to each incoming resident.
