| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 3A-16 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/3A-16)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 3A-16. Regional office of education advisory board.
|
| 8 | | (a) Beginning October 1, 2009, a regional office of |
| 9 | | education advisory board
shall be established within each |
| 10 | | region serving Class I counties or within each group of regions |
| 11 | | participating in an intergovernmental agreement for the
the |
| 12 | | provision of professional development to advise
the regional |
| 13 | | superintendent of schools of the region or regions involved |
| 14 | | concerning the planning
and
delivery of professional |
| 15 | | development programs and services. |
| 16 | | (b) The advisory board shall consist of at least 9 members. |
| 17 | | All members of the advisory board shall be certified pursuant |
| 18 | | to Article 21 of this Code and be currently employed in |
| 19 | | positions requiring certification by a school district, |
| 20 | | special education cooperative, joint agreement, or regional |
| 21 | | office of education program. A majority of members shall be |
| 22 | | nominated by statewide organizations representing teachers |
| 23 | | within the region or regions and selected by the regional |
