HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Section 14.1 of the Toll Highway Act provides that 
3prior to the issuance of bonds for or the commencement of 
4construction of any new toll highway, that particular toll 
5highway shall be authorized by joint resolution of the General 
6Assembly; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Additional highway capacity along Interstate 80 
8in Cook and Will Counties, including tolls on the additional 
9capacity, would improve public safety and promote greater 
10economic development; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The project is contingent on compliance with 
12applicable environmental regulations and, if federal funds or 
13requirements are involved, approval by the Federal Highway 
14Administration; therefore, be it
  
 


  
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
16HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
17SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois State Toll Highway 
18Authority be authorized to commence a procurement process for 
19projects to provide additional capacity along Interstate 80 
20between Interstate 55 and the Illinois-Indiana border in Cook 
21and Will Counties and toll the additional capacity; and be it 
22further

1    RESOLVED, That the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority 
2shall complete the additional capacity project along 
3Interstate 80 in a manner that supports diversity involvement 
4in the project work and economic development in the region; and 
5be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7delivered to each of the Directors of the Illinois State Toll 
8Highway Authority and to the Secretary of the Illinois 
9Department of Transportation.
