| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of Margie |
| 4 | | Gavin Woods of Joliet, who passed away on January 29, 2020; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Margie Woods lived in Joliet where she raised her |
| 6 | | six children with her husband of 36 years, Floyd Woods; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Margie Woods served as a County Commissioner |
| 8 | | representing District 8 from 1980 until her retirement in 2008; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Margie Woods was the first Black woman to become |
| 11 | | Minority Speaker of the Will County Board; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Margie Woods worked at Caterpillar in the Machine |
| 13 | | Shop and was a career-long member of the Machine Shop Coalition |
| 14 | | of Black Trade Unionists; later in life, she attended Lewis |
| 15 | | University's College of Business to advance her career; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Margie Woods served St. Paul Missionary Baptist |
| 17 | | Church in the kitchen ministry, as Chairwoman of the Building |
| 18 | | Fund Committee, and as President of the Senior Usher Ministry; |
| 19 | | she also served in the Joliet Branch of the NAACP, as Deputy |
| 20 | | Registrar for Black Women Hook Up, as Precinct Committeewoman, |
