SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of William "Bill" Rubel, who passed away 
4on June 14, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Rubel moved back to the Quad Cities after 
6living in Las Vegas for six years; he had numerous college 
7degrees, certificates, and awards; he served in the U.S. Army 
8and was a retired reserve officer; he was also a dedicated 
9member of the civil air patrol; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Rubel retired from the Rock Island Arsenal; 
11he also worked security at the iWireless Center in Moline; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Rubel was a devoted baseball and basketball 
13fan and enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams; he recently 
14attended a June 2024 River Bandits baseball game; he was 
15crowned 2024 King of Karaoke and liked listening to Johnny 
16Cash, the Kingston Trio, and a variety of other music; he 
17enjoyed reading and watching movies and never missed a chance 
18to share his knowledge on sports, history, and news; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Rubel is survived by his children, family, 
20and all those who cherished his friendship, including Jennifer 
21and Rahmi Salhi; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3William "Bill" Rubel and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Bill Rubel as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
