| 2 | | WHEREAS, Currently, numerous smartphone applications |
| 3 | | identify the location of police D.U.I. checkpoints and send |
| 4 | | warnings to drivers about the locations of the checkpoints; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Such programs can be used by a drunk driver to |
| 6 | | evade police sobriety checks and represent a very serious |
| 7 | | danger to the drivers of the State of Illinois and elsewhere; |
| 8 | | therefore, be it
|
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 11 | | we urge Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation to |
| 12 | | pass legislation that curtails the use of police-checkpoint |
| 13 | | smartphone applications in the United States; and be it further
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 15 | | presented to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of |
| 16 | | Transportation and the members of the Illinois congressional |
| 17 | | delegation.
