SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
William Lewis Goheen of Big Rock, who 
4passed away on April 20, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, William Goheen was born on April 25, 1918, in 
6Topeka, Kansas; he moved to Mooseheart at the age of 5 and 
7lived there until he graduated from Mooseheart High School; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, After high school, William Goheen obtained a 
9position at the Merchants National Bank in Aurora, where he 
10began as a vault attendant; during this time, he went to night 
11school and earned his degree from the American Institute of 
12Banking; he went on to work at Merchants Bank for over 50 years 
13until his retirement as Executive Senior Vice President at the 
14age of 65; he continued working for the bank as a consultant 
15for an additional 5 years; he also worked as an instructor for 
16the American Institute of Banking; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, William Goheen served his country with pride and 
18distinction as a member of the United States Army during World 
19War II; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, William Goheen was a former member of the Moose 
21Club, the Aurora Lions Club, which he served as President for 2

1terms, and the Aurora Country Club; he and his wife were 
2parishioners at Holy Angels for nearly 40 years; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, William Goheen was an avid outdoorsman and 
4thoroughly enjoyed hiking his acreage in northern Wisconsin; he 
5and his wife travelled and camped extensively throughout the 
6United States and particularly enjoyed their winter vacations 
7in Hemet, California; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, William Goheen was preceded in death by his 
9beloved wife of 50 years, Rosalie Irene Goheen, and his sister, 
10Betty Rogers; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Goheen is survived by his children, 
12Maryann (Duane) Adams, William J. (Lynda) Goheen, Susan T. 
13Cassidy, Janice (Scott) Goheen Boerke, and Kevin M. (Jean) 
14Goheen; his grandchildren, Jennifer Kurr, Heather Arneson, 
15Michael Goheen, Brian Goheen, Stacy Ready, Brendan Smith, Erin 
16Smith, Matt Boerke, Dr. Kyle Boerke, Logan Goheen, Megan 
17Taylor, Angelina Goheen and Maria Goheen; and his 13 
18great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
21his family and friends, the passing of William Lewis Goheen;  
22and be it further
