| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 10.14 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (50 ILCS 705/10.14 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10.14. Training; animal fighting awareness and humane |
| 8 | | response. The Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards |
| 9 | | Board shall conduct or approve a training program in animal |
| 10 | | fighting awareness and humane response for law enforcement |
| 11 | | officers of local government agencies. The purpose of that |
| 12 | | training shall be to equip law enforcement officers of local |
| 13 | | government agencies to identify animal fighting operations and |
| 14 | | respond appropriately. This training shall also include a |
| 15 | | humane response component that will provide guidelines for |
| 16 | | appropriate law enforcement response to animal abuse, cruelty, |
| 17 | | and neglect, or similar conditions.
