AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2571




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2571 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended  by adding 
5Section 9-132 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/9-132 new)
7    Sec. 9-132. Highway design.  A unit of local government may 
8consult a highway design publication outside the Department's 
9Bureau of Design and Environment Manual for the construction of 
10any highway in ownership or control of the unit of local 
11government, except for a highway that is part of the National 
12System of Interstate and Defense Highways, if:
13    (a) the unit of local government receives federal or State 
14funds for the construction project;
15    (b) the highway design publication is recognized by the 
16Federal Highway Administration;

1    (c) the highway design publication is adopted by the unit 
2of local government; and
3    (d) the design complies with all other applicable federal 
4laws.".
