          Appropriates $1 to the Department  of  Transportation  to
      construct  sound  barriers along certain roadways that create
      extreme noise problems for communities.   Effective  July  1,
      1997.

 1        AN  ACT  making  an  appropriation  to  the Department of
 2    Transportation.
 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section  5.  The  amount of $1, or so much of that amount
 6    as may be necessary, is appropriated  to  the  Department  of
 7    Transportation  to  construct  sound  barriers along roadways
 8    that  create  extreme  noise  problems  for  communities   as
 9    authorized by Section 49.16a of the Civil Administrative Code
10    of Illinois.
11        Section  99.   Effective  date.  This Act takes effect on
12    July 1, 1997.
