1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 844
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 844 on page 3, by
3 replacing lines 29 and 30 with the following:
4 "waiver if the manufacturer's suggested retail price of the
5 rental vehicle type is not greater than $30,000. A rental
6 company"; and
7 on page 3, by replacing lines 32 through 34 with the
8 following:
9 "rental day for a collision damage waiver if the
10 manufacturer's suggested retail price of the rental vehicle
11 type is greater than $30,000. On January 1, 2000, the maximum
12 charges in this subsection (c) shall be increased to $9.50
13 and $12.50, respectively, and shall be subsequently increased
14 to $10 and $13 on January 1, 2001 and $10.50 and $13.50 on
15 January 1, 2002."; and
16 on page 11, line 6, by deleting "its"; and
17 on page 11, by replacing lines 7 and 8 with the following:
18 "$2,000; provided, however, that if it"; and
19 on page 11, line 13, after "theft", by inserting the
20 following:
21 ", then the damages shall be the actual and reasonable costs
22 of the rental vehicle up to its fair market value, as

1 determined by the customary market for the sale of that
2 vehicle."; and
3 on page 11, immediately below line 13, by inserting the
4 following:
5 "For purposes of this subsection (b), for the period
6 prior to June 1, 1998, the maximum amount that may be
7 recovered from an authorized driver shall not exceed $6,000;
8 for the period beginning June 1, 1998 through May 31, 1999,
9 the maximum recovery shall not exceed $7,500; and for the
10 period beginning June 1, 1999 through May 31, 2000, the
11 maximum recovery shall not exceed $9,000. Beginning June 1,
12 2000, and annually each June 1 thereafter, the maximum amount
13 that may be recovered from an authorized driver shall be
14 increased by $500 above the maximum recovery allowed
15 immediately prior to June 1 of that year."; and
16 on page 12, line 5, after "payment", by inserting "for
17 damage"; and
18 on page 12, line 11, after "confirmed", by inserting "during
19 regular business hours"; and
20 on page 12, line 19, after "representatives", by inserting
21 "during regular business hours".
