          Appropriates $2,500,000 to  the  Illinois  Department  of
      Human  Services  to  provide  assistance to homeless persons.
      Effective July 1, 1997.

 1        AN ACT making an appropriation to the Department of Human
 2    Services.
 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section  5.  The amount of $2,500,000, or so much of that
 6    amount as may be necessary, is appropriated to the Department
 7    of Human Services for grants to not-for-profit  organizations
 8    to provide assistance to homeless persons, as provided for in
 9    Section 12-4.18 of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
10        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect July
11    1, 1997.
