1 AN ACT making appropriations.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. The following named amounts, or so much
5 thereof as may be necessary, respectively, are appropriated
6 for the objects and purposes hereinafter named, to meet the
7 ordinary and contingent expenses of the Historic Preservation

2 Section 3a. The sum of $75,000, or so much thereof as
3 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Illinois Historic
4 Sites Fund to the Historic Preservation Agency for awards and
5 grants for historic preservation programs made either
6 independently or in cooperation with the Federal Government
7 or any agency thereof, any municipal corporation, or
8 political subdivision of the State, or with any public or
9 private corporation, organization, or individual.
10 Section 3b. The sum of $135,000, or so much thereof as
11 may be necessary and as remains unexpended at the close of
12 business on June 30, 1997, from appropriations heretofore
13 made in Article 58, Sections 3b and 3c of Public Act 89-0501,
14 as amended, is reappropriated from the Illinois Historic
15 Sites Fund to the Historic Preservation Agency for awards and
16 grants for historic preservation programs made either
17 independently or in cooperation with the Federal Government
18 or any agency thereof, any municipal corporation, or
19 political subdivision of the State, or with any public or
20 private corporation, organization, or individual.
21 Section 4. The following named amounts, or so much
22 thereof as may be necessary, respectively, are appropriated
23 for the objects and purposes hereinafter named, to meet the
24 ordinary and contingent expenses of the Historic Preservation

23 Section 6. The sum of $600,000, or so much thereof as
24 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Illinois Historic
25 Sites Fund to the Historic Preservation Agency for
26 operations, maintenance, repairs, permanent improvements,
27 special events, and all other costs related to the operation
28 of Illinois Historic Sites and only to the extent which
29 donations are received at Illinois State Historic Sites.
30 Section 7. The sum of $800,000, or so much thereof as
31 may be necessary and as remains unexpended at the close of
32 business on June 30, 1997, from reappropriations heretofore

1 made in Article 58, Section 8 of Public Act 89-0501, is
2 reappropriated from the Capital Development Fund to the
3 Historic Preservation Agency to provide a 25 percent matching
4 grant for the construction of an interpretive center at the
5 Lewis and Clark National Trail Site No. 1 in Madison County.
6 Section 999. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
7 July 1, 1997.
