235 ILCS 5/1-3.28 from Ch. 43, par. 95.28
Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934 to expand the
definition of broker to include a person, corporation, or
other combination of individuals that solicits orders or
membership to an alcoholic beverage club or an alcoholic
liquors club to promote the sale of alcoholic liquors to
consumers and businesses for any wholesaler, retailer, or
other individual who ships alcoholic liquors by means of a
common carrier. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Liquor Control Act of 1934 by
2 changing Section 1-3.28.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Liquor Control Act of 1934 is amended by
6 changing Section 1-3.28 as follows:
7 (235 ILCS 5/1-3.28) (from Ch. 43, par. 95.28)
8 Sec. 1-3.28. "Broker" means a person who solicits orders
9 for or offers to sell or supply alcoholic liquors to
10 retailers for a fee or commission, for or on behalf of a
11 person authorized to manufacture or sell at wholesale
12 alcoholic liquors within or without the State, or a person,
13 corporation, or other combination of individuals acting as a
14 group that solicits orders or solicits membership to an
15 alcoholic beverage club or alcoholic liquors club through the
16 mail, newspapers, facsimile machines, telephones or other
17 electronic devices, billboards, radio or television
18 advertisements, computers, newsletters, brochures,
19 catalogues, pamphlets, or similar methods to promote the sale
20 of alcoholic liquors to consumers and businesses within or
21 without the State for any wholesaler, retailer, or any other
22 individual who ships alcoholic liquors by means of a common
23 carrier within or without the State.

25 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
26 becoming law.
