 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2844
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2844,  AS  AMENDED,
 3    immediately  below  the  enacting  clause,  by  inserting the
 4    following:
 5        "Section 3.  The State Finance Act is amended  by  adding
 6    Sections 5.480 and 6z-46 as follows:
 7        (30 ILCS 105/5.480 new)
 8        Sec. 5.480.  The Right to Read Fund.
 9        (30 ILCS 105/6z-46 new)
10        Sec.  6z-46.  The  Right to Read Fund.  The Right to Read
11    Fund is created as a special fund in the State treasury.  All
12    gifts,  donations,  and  charitable  contributions  that  are
13    contributed by any private individual or entity to the  State
14    Board  of  Education for the purpose of improving the reading
15    of children in the public schools shall be deposited into the
16    Right to Read Fund.  All money in  the  Right  to  Read  Fund
17    shall  be  used,  subject  to  appropriation  by  the General
18    Assembly, by the State Board of Education for distribution to
19    school districts for this purpose.".
