1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Mr. Benjamin Lee Troutman, Sr. of Chicago,
4 father of Alderman Arenda Troutman, on Monday, February 10,
5 1997; and
6 WHEREAS, He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on March 27,
7 1929, the son of Robert Lee and Bessie Bell Troutman, and
8 moved to Chicago at the age of 15 and graduated from Lindblom
9 High School; and
10 WHEREAS, He married his high school sweetheart, Iris Mae,
11 and to this union were born 10 children; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Troutman had worked for the Chicago
13 Stockyard for 7 years, the Chicago Post Office for 4 years,
14 and the Belt Railroad for 35 years; he retired in 1990; and
15 WHEREAS, He was also a licensed insurance broker for
16 Metropolitan Life Insurance Company; and
17 WHEREAS, A husband, father, and grandfather, Benjamin
18 Troutman leaves a legacy of strong personal faith and his
19 warm and caring nature will be missed by all; and
20 WHEREAS, A proud member of the 20th Ward Democratic
21 Organization, Benjamin Troutman was a precinct captain, area
22 coordinator, and campaign worker; and
23 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
24 and countless friends, especially his wife, Iris Mae; his
25 sons, Benjamin, James, and Phillip; his daughters Gayle,
26 Audrey, Faye, Arenda, Diana, Lois, and Iris; 21
27 grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Jean Clements;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1 note with sorrow and regret the death of Mr. Benjamin Lee
2 Troutman, Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
3 family and friends; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Mrs. Iris Mae Troutman.
