1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Florice
4 Buckner Gay of Chicago, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Florice Gay was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi;
6 she was the youngest child of Clarence and Florice Buckner;
7 Florice Gay was a graduate of Bowman High School in
8 Vicksburg, Mississippi; she later moved to Chicago, Illinois;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Florice Gay attended Chicago Teachers College,
11 where she majored in accounting; Florice served as an
12 accountant and office manager for Harvey Collins Enterprises
13 and for Trains, Boats, and Planes Travel Agency; and
14 WHEREAS, Florice Buckner Gay met and married Cedric Gay,
15 a union that lasted for forty years; she is survived by her
16 loving husband; her mother Florice Eiland; her brothers
17 Clarence Buckner, Jr., and Dr. James L. Buckner; her
18 stepfather Vergis Eiland, Sr.; her nieces and nephews JaSaun,
19 Justin, Jordan, Garland, James, Brandon, Clarence III,
20 Tracie, Troy, Tonja, and Herbert Buckner; Selby Woods;
21 Derrick and Monica Gay; and Anthony King; she is also
22 remembered by other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 mourn, along with her family and friends, the death of
26 Florice Buckner Gay; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Florice Buckner Gay.
