1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The city of Centralia, Illinois has honored
3 several of its citizens with induction into the Centralia
4 Hall of Fame; and
5 WHEREAS, Clarence Maxwell Fowler is one recent inductee;
6 Clarence Fowler was born on November 26, 1918 in Centralia,
7 Illinois; in June of 1936 he graduated from Centralia
8 Township High School; in June of 1940 he graduated from the
9 University of Illinois with a degree in Chemical Engineering;
10 from June of 1946 to October of 1949 Clarence Fowler
11 completed his studies at the University of Michigan, where he
12 received his Masters in Science and his Ph.D. in Physics; and
13 WHEREAS, On July 12, 1942 he married Janet Brown in
14 Bucyrus, Ohio; from 1943 to 1946 he served in the United
15 States Navy, where he was discharged as a Lieutenant; he has
16 taught as a Professor in Physics at Kansas State University;
17 he worked on the summer staff at Los Alamos National
18 Laboratory, where he started flux compression experiments; in
19 August of 1957 he resigned as a Professor at Kansas State
20 University to work full-time at Los Alamos; in July of 1992
21 he and his wife celebrated their fiftieth wedding
22 anniversary; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 salute Clarence Fowler on his induction into the Centralia
26 Hall of Fame; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to Clarence Fowler.
