1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Sarah Tueting, a resident of Winnetka, Illinois
3 and a graduate of New Trier High School, was a goaltender on
4 the 1998 United States Olympic women's ice hockey team; and
5 WHEREAS, After going undefeated in the preliminary games,
6 the United States women's hockey team met Team Canada on
7 Tuesday, February 17, 1998 in the Olympic championship game;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Sarah Tueting was the goaltender for the United
10 States in the Olympic championship game; and
11 WHEREAS, Sarah Tueting was spectacular throughout the
12 gold medal game, using dramatic kick saves, glove saves,
13 sliding saves, split saves, and absorbing slap shots in the
14 pads to stop Team Canada; and
15 WHEREAS, Sarah Tueting led the United States to victory
16 over Team Canada by stopping 21 of 22 shots on goal,
17 including a potential game-tying shot with just minutes left
18 in the game; and
19 WHEREAS, Sarah Tueting was instrumental in the United
20 States gold medal winning performance; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 express our pride in Sarah Tueting on her sensational
24 performance as goaltender and commend her on her hard work
25 and dedication in leading the United States Olympic women's
26 ice hockey team to a gold medal in the 1998 Olympic Women's
27 Ice Hockey Tournament in Nagano, Japan; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Sarah Tueting of Winnetka, Illinois.
