1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that a Vernon Hills
3 home was broken into and anti-Semitic and racist symbols and
4 words were carved on the walls; and
5 WHEREAS, Even though the police believe the graffiti was
6 the work of teenagers, such behavior is intolerable; these
7 actions are definitely a hate crime and anti-Semitic; and
8 WHEREAS, The incident is shocking to a community that
9 values diversity and tolerance; and
10 WHEREAS, The Anti-Defamation League has taken an interest
11 in this home invasion and expressed its outrage at the
12 deplorable conduct evidenced by it; and
13 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is greatly
14 concerned about the continuing presence of religious and
15 racial intolerance in our society; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 find the home invasion in Vernon Hills to be a reprehensible
19 act of hate and anti-Semitism and urge the authorities to
20 take proper action against the parties involved; and be it
21 further
22 RESOLVED, That we express our sorrow that the young
23 couple had to undergo the stress this home invasion caused;
24 and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
26 forwarded to Anti-Defamation League Chicago Regional Director
27 Richard Hirschhaut, to the Vernon Hills Police Department,
28 and to the Vernon Hills Village President.
