1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Regina Dominican
4 High School science team on winning first place at the
5 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Academic Challenge
6 State finals held at the Urbana campus of the University of
7 Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, Nora Sullivan won first and Diane Hirsh won
9 fourth in individual biology awards; Barbara Schultze won
10 first, Stephanie Portle won fourth, Fran Lebajo won ninth,
11 and Anjali Vij won thirteenth place in chemistry, with Anjali
12 Vij also placing tenth in engineering graphics; Adrianna
13 Kashuba took seventh in engineering graphics; Pam Mueller won
14 first place in English, with third place going to Fran
15 Lebajo, and seventh place to Britt Sandler; in math, Barbara
16 Schultze placed seventh, Pam Mueller placed ninth, Adrianna
17 Kashuba placed eleventh, and Seong Hye Hwang placed twelfth;
18 in physics, fifth place went to Kathryn Brennan, with sixth
19 place going to Nora Sullivan; and
20 WHEREAS, Other contributing members of the team include:
21 Ellie Harrison, Colleen Ronan, Alison Hoenk, Reena John,
22 Laura Johnson, Lily Lengerich, Teresa Llorente, and Julia
23 Strobel; Coaches for the team were Barbara Dau, Patricia Fox,
24 Suzanne Wallace, and William Petrosky, with Bernadette Hayes
25 serving as moderator; and
26 WHEREAS, The team celebrated at a school assembly and
27 added a new four-foot trophy to the display case; the team
28 competed for the trophy against five hundred other schools
29 and seven thousand other students; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
32 congratulate the Regina Dominican High School science team

1 for its impressive accomplishments; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the Regina Dominican High School science team.
