1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn
3 of the recent death of Richard Thomas Nolan of Chicago; and
4 WHEREAS, He was born on November 25, 1936 in Chicago, the
5 son of Sam and Beulah Nolan; he attended Brainard Elementary
6 School and Morgan Park High School; and
7 WHEREAS, He married the former Myrna Louise Gant in
8 August of 1961; to this union two daughters were born; and
9 WHEREAS, He had many passions in his lifetime, including
10 photography, boxing, camping, outdoor cooking, gardening, and
11 cars; and
12 WHEREAS, His love of cars led to his owning and operating
13 his own business; he was one of the most successful Black
14 race drivers who raced at the U.S. 30 Strip in the 50s and
15 60s; and
16 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
17 and friends, especially his wife, Myrna; his daughters,
18 Janine Nolan and Daina Andrews; his son-in-law, Terrell
19 Andrews; his grandchildren, Kia Milan, Aja Malyn, and Justin
20 Lesant; his brothers, Carl, Maurice, and Edward; his sisters,
21 LaVerne Street, Deloris Curtis, and Loretta Hall; his
22 sisters-in-law, Patricya, Eva, Victoria, and Lillian Nolan;
23 and his brother-in-law, Dewey Hall; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 note with sorrow and regret the death of Richard Thomas Nolan
27 and wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family and
28 friends; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to his widow, Mrs. Myrna Nolan.
