1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Rotary Club of
4 Hillsboro on the occasion of their seventy-fifth anniversary;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Hillsboro was organized on
7 April 9, 1923; businessmen from the Pana Rotary Club came to
8 Hillsboro, explained the goals and objectives of Rotary
9 International, and helped the men of the Hillsboro branch to
10 organize their own Rotary Club; and
11 WHEREAS, Rotary International granted Charter No. 1459 to
12 the Rotary Club of Hillsboro on April 23, 1923; the Rotary
13 motto, "Service Above Self" became the goal of the Hillsboro
14 Rotary Club; from 1923 to the present day, the Rotary Club of
15 Hillsboro has served others first, from supplying raincoats
16 to the Boy's Safety Patrol, to attending pep rallies at the
17 local schools; and
18 WHEREAS, On April 23, 1973, the Golden Anniversary of the
19 Hillsboro Rotary Club was held; Don Nichols organized the
20 event, with neighboring community Rotary Clubs participating
21 as well; and
22 WHEREAS, Efforts the Hillsboro Rotary Club supports
23 include: RYLA, Hillsboro Post Prom, Koats for Kids, Hillsboro
24 Sports Complex, Operation Rainbow, Boy Scout Troop 90,
25 Montgomery County Positive Youth Development, the American
26 Cancer Society, the Rotary Scholarship for two local high
27 school graduates, and "First Alert" emergency call system for
28 the elderly and disabled; and
29 WHEREAS, There are currently 33 active members in the
30 Hillsboro Rotary Club; together they are celebrating
31 seventy-five years of service to the Hillsboro community;

1 therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 congratulate the Hillsboro Rotary Club on their seventy-fifth
5 anniversary; may they continue serving and helping others in
6 their community; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the Hillsboro Rotary Club.
