1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are saddened to learn
3 of the death of I. V. Woods of Chicago; and
4 WHEREAS, He was born on October 30, 1917 in Tipton
5 County, Tennessee; he was a resident of Chicago for 50 years;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, He was employed for 10 years at Dohler Jarvis
8 Die Casting Company and 25 years at Sherwin Williams Paint
9 Company in the Chemical Department; he was a 25 year member
10 of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, During his membership in the labor movement, he
13 participated in and witnessed great improvements in the areas
14 of retirement, benefits, working conditions, and the health
15 and safety of workers; and
16 WHEREAS, For his work, he received numerous citations,
17 awards, and certificates; and
18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
19 and friends, especially his wife, Beulah Florence Woods; his
20 son, Vaughn Lowell Woods; and his neighbors of the 400 block
21 of East 88th Street; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
24 note with sorrow and regret the death of I. V. Woods and
25 extend our most sincere condolences to his family and
26 friends; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to his widow, Beulah Florence Woods.
