1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Dr. Stephen Weisman, who recently
5 passed away; and
6 WHEREAS, Dr. Stephen Weisman was born in Brooklyn, New
7 York; he graduated Cum Laude from Hobart College in 1956; he
8 attended Georgetown Medical School, and began his private
9 practice in the north suburbs of Chicago in 1966; and
10 WHEREAS, Dr. Weisman was a veteran of the United States
11 Navy, serving at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital; Dr. Weisman
12 was also a lieutenant commander in the Medical Corps; and
13 WHEREAS, Dr. Weisman was a part of Highland Park Hospital
14 for more than 31 years; he served as chairman of the
15 department of renal dialysis and the department of internal
16 medicine; he also was a physician at Lake Forest Hospital and
17 Condell Medical Center in Libertyville; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Weisman was instrumental in starting a
19 dialysis unit at Highland Park Hospital; as a result of his
20 efforts to help patients with kidney problems, a wing of the
21 unit is named after him; Dr. Weisman was also a member of the
22 board of directors for the Cancer Wellness Center in
23 Northbrook; and
24 WHEREAS, Dr. Weisman taught at Tufts University Medical
25 School, Northwestern University Medical School, and Chicago
26 Medical School; Dr. Weisman was also the founder of the Lake
27 County Dialysis Center in Libertyville (now Total Renal
28 Care), and served as the Center's director; and
29 WHEREAS, When he was not serving others, Dr. Weisman
30 enjoyed golf, tennis, photography, artwork, and classical
31 music; he is survived by his wife, Joyce Weisman; his mother,

1 Janet; his son, Howard; his daughters, Debbie, Dina, and
2 Laura; and his brother, Robert; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5 mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of Dr.
6 Stephen Weisman; he truly was a caring individual, dedicated
7 to his field of expertise and the people that needed him; may
8 his family and friends find comfort in this time of loss; and
9 be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Dr. Stephen A. Weisman.
