Amends the Jury Commission Act. Requires jurors in
counties over 1,000,000 inhabitants to be assigned to the
courthouse nearest their residence addresses.

1 AN ACT to amend the Jury Commission Act by changing
2 Section 9.2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Jury Commission Act is amended by
6 changing Section 9.2 as follows:
7 (705 ILCS 310/9.2) (from Ch. 78, par. 32.2)
8 Sec. 9.2. In single county circuits containing or which
9 may hereafter contain more than one million inhabitants,
10 jurors under 65 years of age may be drawn from such parts of
11 the county and assigned to jury service as determined by
12 court rule to be most favorable to an impartial trial and not
13 to incur unnecessary expense or unduly burden the citizens of
14 any part of the county with jury service. Such rule may
15 utilize established divisions within the county. Jurors who
16 are 65 years of age or older, may be drawn from such parts of
17 the county and shall be assigned to jury service at court
18 houses nearest their residence addresses.
