1 AN ACT to amend the Clinical Social Work and Social Work
2 Practice Act by changing Section 12.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Clinical Social Work and Social Work
6 Practice Act is amended by changing Section 12 as follows:

8 Sec. 12. Implementation - Transitional Periods. For the
9 period between January 1, 1989 and December 31, 1990, the
10 Department shall issue a temporary license, without
11 examination, to any person who demonstrates to the Department
12 that such person meets the educational qualifications of a
13 licensed clinical social worker as set forth in this Act and
14 has functioned as a clinical social worker or clinical social
15 work supervisor for at least 2 of the last 5 years.
16 All persons who use the title "Licensed Clinical Social
17 Worker", including all persons holding a temporary license,
18 shall pass an examination by December 31, 1991 to determine
19 their competence to provide services to the public.
20 Any person registered and in good standing as of December
21 31, 1988 under the Social Workers Registration Act who meets
22 the educational and experience requirements established by
23 this Act shall be eligible to apply for and receive a license
24 during the one year period ending December 31, 1989 as a
25 "Licensed Social Worker" without examination.
26 Any person registered and in good standing as of December
27 31, 1988 under the Social Workers Registration Act is
28 eligible to receive a license by taking and successfully
29 passing the examination for "Licensed Social Worker" during
30 the eighteen month period of January 1, 1989 through June 30,
31 1990.

1 All disciplinary actions, taken or pending, under the
2 provisions of The Social Worker Registration Act, as amended,
3 shall, for the actions taken, remain in effect, and shall,
4 for the actions pending, be continued, on and after the
5 effective date of this Act without requiring the Department
6 to file separate actions.
