 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1702
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 1702, on  page  2,
 3    by replacing lines 21 through 27 with the following:
 4        "(b)All  State  conventions shall be held within 180 days
 5    after the general primary in the year 2000 and every 4  years
 6    thereafter  on  the first Friday after the second Monday next
 7    succeeding the primary at which committeemen are elected.  In
 8    the year 1998, and every 4 years thereafter, the chairman  of
 9    a  State  central  committee  may  issue  a  call for a State
10    convention within 180 days after the general primary.".
